This is especially useful in regards to personal protection.

Create a detailed mental picture of the dangerous situation. Include sight, touch, sound, smell, and taste. Be fully engaged in the scenario.

Things to keep in mind while creating your scenario:

  • What are you wearing?
  • What is the assailant wearing?
  • Where are you?
  • What time of day is it?
  • How are you feeling?
  • What is the weather?
  • Is anyone with you?
  • What do you do to control your emotions?
  • What avenues of escape do you have?
  • Are you in an isolated environment?
  • Is there a weapon involved?
  • What does the assailant want?
  • Is there more than one assailant?
  • What do you say to try to de-escalate the situation?
  • What are your best options?

Those are just a few things you can answer during the mind scripted scenario. In an actual situation you don’t have the luxury of answering those questions because things can escalate very quickly. Knowing how you would or how you want to react beforehand puts you a step ahead in the event something does occur.

Mind scripting can be used in all kinds of situations: Losing a loved one, losing your job, a natural disaster, a big life decision for the better or worse, getting a promotion, moving, and many other things.

I encourage everyone to use mind scripting in regards to personal protection. It will help you be better prepared. That I guarantee!
